Yoga and Painting = My Saturday

Yesterday, was a lot of fun! Exhausting, but definitely worth it 🙂

First, we did restorative yoga. Over the course of an hour, we only did about 6 positions, holding each one for quite some time. Apparently, it’s supposed to be good for fibromyalgia sufferers because of the use of props and such (according to The Chopra Center). restorative-yogaUnfortunately, my body didn’t seem to like it much. I think it’s because my body hates staying in one position for very long, and that always aggravates my fibro. It was, however, good for my P.O.T.S since it was all done lying down and there was no physical exertion. Well, I was having to spend a lot of physical and mental energy relaxing the muscles that my body refused to relax (new ones would tense up during poses and so it was a constant game of tag around the muscles). It was nice, however, because being on the floor and using all of the props made some positions a lot easier. I just wish my body was okay with holding positions for long periods of time. I’m definitely feeling it today.

Then we went back to C’s sister’s (L) house and had dinner. C is the friend getting married at the end of February, and L is her twin sister. I’m met them both while I was at Mines, and definitely consider them both close friends (though we don’t get to see each other much since we live far apart). Dinner was tasty, and then it was off to painting!

We went to a place called Picasso and Wine. It’s just like the other group painting studios that have been popping up around the country: all of your supplies are provided and an instructor leads you step-by-step through the painting for that class. Oh, and there is wine and/or cocktails available. They’re a lot of fun, and you leave feeling much better about your personal art ability because the paintings look great and are much easier to do when broken down into steps! I love these classes! This is the third one I’ve done (first one at Picasso and Wine, the other two were at Canvas and Cocktails). During the party, I only took photos while painting… so here they are:

I had a lot of fun! After the painting, we went back to L’s house, and hung out for a bit. I decided to go home, but it takes an hour and a half… so I got home at 1am! Today, I’ve been completely exhausted, but it was worth it 🙂
